Linen has remained one of the oldest and most treasured textiles throughout history. With the increasing need for sustainability, linen has become increasingly popular today.
The sustainability of organic linen starts with the flax plant. After seed planting, flax seeds require very little water to grow, in fact, rain water is enough to nourish it; making the process incredibly eco-friendly! After about ninety days, the plant grows to about three or four feet tall and is ready to be harvested. The linen fibers are then extracted, then spun into yarn and woven into linen fabric.
The flax plant is also zero-waste since it can be used to make various products, from linen to flaxseed oil. From start to finish, linen is incredibly eco-friendly!

Why is our linen GOTS certified?

Not every product that is advertised as eco-friendly is actually sustainable! That is why it’s so important to us to have the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) label. Having this label takes our already exceedingly high standards for natural, ethical products to a whole new level.

What is GOTS?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has been the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. This all-inclusive standard covers the entire textile supply chain; from the sustainable, ethical harvesting of raw materials to the eco-friendly and socially responsible manufacturing and labelling activities.
Why is our linen GOTS certified 'organic'
Because not only is linen naturally sustainable, but the organic certification from GOTS ensures that no nasty chemicals were used in the manufacturing of our linen. For our linen to be labeled ‘organic’, GOTS requires for it to be made of a minimum of 95% certified organic fibers. That means the linen we use is grown without any synthetic pesticides or GMOs. It's all about promoting sustainable farming practices that take care of the soil, biodiversity, and the precious ecosystems around us.

Nurturing Working Conditions
GOTS promotes fair labor practices and ensures that the workers involved in the production of our ring slings are treated ethically. They follow all the guidelines set out by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Meaning they prohibit child labor, forced labor, and discrimination while guaranteeing safe and hygienic working conditions and fair pay.
